NO
We came into Delhi at midnight, transphered over to another part of the airport for our 6am flight to Kolkata. If you have to go to another part of the airport, you will have to get a taxi (pay for it in the airport before you leave). There is a lounge across the street, but we did not want to go there. . . looked suspicious. The pics are from about 5am. there is no food or drink until about then. The bathrooms are great!!! they have an attendent in there 24/7. TIP THE ATTENDANT!!! Dont be put off by the police. Bring wipes for the benches, a sheet/something to sleep on, and locks for your stuff. I used a pacsafe http://www.pacsafe.com/www/index.php...deta il&id=48 mesh over my backpack. There is a left luggage facility at the airport, and we looked into getting a hotel room for that night, time became an issue.

I arrived at the international airport a little after midnight. My flight to Bhubaneshwar was scheduled for 10:00am. I didn't want to go to a hotel; I had a taxi take me to the domestic terminal. It was practically empty. I dozed on seats off and on, my bags suitably locked. There was a police presence throughout the night. There were no food or other services until about 7:00am.

If there is anything to paid to a toilet attendent, it is because it is not a free toilet. Most paytoilets will cost you Rs.1 for a wee. In airports most things get inflated...

The toilets in the airports are free. The payment if it is given is a tip, gratuity. The attendant never asks for it in my experience. Up to you if you want to give it, I think there's a sign saying do not tip. 'wipes for the benches' -do you mean the seating memoulder? I've never had to even think of that either - I just plonk myself down, they are generally clean looking to me.

I was asked for a tip in the ladies at Delhi - and it was one of my more embarrassing moments.

Arriving at the loo, I started to enter one western-style toilet cubicle, and noticed the seat was covered in urine. I just wasn't in a frame of mind to deal with that, so I backed out to wait for another one. A tiny woman who looked like she was at least 80 years old went in and grabbed some toilet paper, and wiped down the seat. She then motioned me to enter the cubicle, and I realised she was the attendant. I felt awful, because I really should have done that myself, rather than having some poor little old lady do it for me.

After, as I was washing my hands she approached me and put out her hand for a tip. If anyone deserved one, she did! But I had left my purse outside with my husband, and didn't even have a single rupee on me. I was mortified.

Tips are not required, but what the heck she deserved it! As for wiping down the seat where I was going to lie down for the night - why not. Would have done that in any airport where I was going to sleep. All in all - a pleasant night. everyone there is in the same situation. Met some interesting folks. Good luck and dont worry about it.

Theres also a lounge where you can pay 500 rupees to get in and relax. I am not sure on the opening hours of the bar and lounge but i was in the bar untill about 12am before a flight. You never know.

Delhi Domestic Airport

I will be arriving at 7pm and taking a next day flight at 9.45am. Does any one know whether we can relax in the airport itself. Can any one please give me more information about the lounge where you pay Rs.500/- to get in and relax.

Thanks
