Smile Arriving in Delhi

I am extremely excited about visiting India for the first time next month. I am an experienced traveler in Latin America but this will be my first trip in Asia.

Unfortunately, my plane arrives in New Delhi at 3:30 in the morning. I'm trying to figure out whether it makes sense for me to stay a few extra hours in the airport (even though I'll be exhausted) until it gets light or if I should take a cab to a hotel right away. I've read that the New Delhi airport isn't the greatest but the idea of taking a taxi in the middle of the night to a hotel doesn't sound great either. Any advice from past experiences?

I'd also love to hear about any reasonable priced ($20-$45) clean safe hotels in New Delhi.

Thanks for the help!

This topic has been discussed many times.
By the time you finish immigration and customs it will be past 4:30 so it is not that way an ungodly hour.
You have two options:
1. Take the Delhi police operated pre-paid taxi and go to your hotel. Get the address and some landmark from your hotel before arriving.
2. Organise a pick up by your hotel.

Not sure there would be much benefit to staying around at the airport if you don't have to. Its functional - but not so nice that you would want to hang out there. The sooner you get to the hotel, get settled, get rested - the sooner you can start exploring!

happy travels.

You may ask your hotel to arrange airport pickup for you, the charges might be a little extra but you would be sure to reach the right place.

I would arrange for airport pickup, especially after such a long journey.

I stayed at the Master Paying Guesthouse and they arranged hotel pickup, although they are often full and you need to book well in advance. You can search the hotel section on this site for more information on hotels.

If you really find it difficult or confusing to choose the hotel in midnight then take the pre paid taxi and you can come to our home...yeah many of my friends like you have broken my sleep in night......you will not be the first one....dont worry.

Have a Nice Travel,
Aman
