arriving in Delhi

Hi,I will be arriving at 1 am or so and I have to get to a hotel on Gurudwara Road. Anyone know what a taxi should charge me from the airport to this street? Thanks. It'll be my first time in India and I'm a little nervous about the arrival time. Thanks

At one am,and first time in Delhi, I would recommend you pay a little extra to arrange the hotel to pick you up.

Otherwise a prepaid taxi from the airport. Waiting for some Delhi IMer to be more accurate, but my top of the head guess would be 300 rupees.

Capt you are quite near the mark. A hotel pick up is ofcourse the best thing.
If you are going for the pre-paid taxi not too big a problem. Have the name of the hotel and its address written on apiece of paper. If you are in touch with the hotel ask them for some landmark close to its location. Note down the phone numbers. Avoid the private taxi booths & head for the Govt. run pre-paid taxi counter manned by Delhi police. Show them the piece of paper with the hotel address, buy the voucher. Request the person to write down the address in Hindi on your paper. Get in a yellow black cab & show the driver the address. Don't hand him over the voucher as yet. While leaving the airport cops will ask you your name & destnation... get it recorded. After reaching your hotel get in to the loby with your luggage, ask the driver to come in & then hand over the voucher.

Here's the link for Delhi Traffic Police prepaid -- I think these rates are fairly current - notice that the fares go up a little if you arrive after 11:00pm:

pls go n take prepaid taxi from the counter n it should be around 300 to 350
