I arrive in Delhi on the 4th of Feb, at 23.00. I havn't been able to get a hold of any hostels via phone (rung almost everyone in the LP budget section in pahargarj). If I catch a taxi to paharganj, keeping in mind it will probably be after midnight when I finally get there (I've been told many close thier doors at midnight), is it likely I'll find a room to crash in, and will it be safe for me to cruise around looking at this hour alone?
Any advice would be VERY much appreciated as I've got butterflies worrying. Cheers.

Try the Star Paradise - not a personal recommendation as I haven't been there yet, but they do an airport pickup for Rs400, and it's Rs 375 for single non ac room. Check their website at http://www.stargroupofhotels.com/htm..._paradise.html and email Raj at starview@vsnl.com - they seem helpful enough. Even if it's just one night there it's better than arriving so late not knowing where you're going.

There is plenty open 24 hours a day and calling from overseas and trying to get a reservation is so "frickin" hard. Trust me if your walking down Main Bazaar at that time of night with a backpack there will be plenty of people touting you to stay at their hotel. Even in the wee wee hours of the morning.
It's pretty safe to and I wouldn't let it concern you to much. |

Just finished PMing you when I read this - glad to hear you got something. I'll be in the area the same night though so if you/any other "indiamikers" want to meet up I'd be glad for the company!

Well done Breeb. I've booked my first night there but after that... well, I'm not sure but I'll have a look around if I need to.
Two sleeps to go but not arriving til 2300 on the 4th? Sounds like you'll be spending a night in KL... sucker! (if so MH will put you up in their transit hotel. You can arrange this at the KL terminal if you haven't already). I've also got two sleeps and I'll be there before you (thanks to SQ). So close... I'm excited!!! |
