An afternoon and one night in Delhi

Folks,

I will soon be going to India and only spending one afternoon and night in Delhi. I will be arriving in Hazart Nizamuddin Station. I plan on doing a quick bare essentials....Red Fort and Old Delhi, Chandri Chowk and a good meal somewhere.

I'd like to stay somewhere comfortable, clean, hassle free and relaxed. Think it would be better to stay in/near Old Delhi? Hotel Broadway or any other suggestions?

Or, stay near Nizamuddin station? Is it possible to take the metro from there to old Delhi? Any good hotels nearby?

Budgetwise I'm happy up to $100-120, but would like cheaper if possible

Cheers

Graham

I wouldn't pay $100-120 a night even in Connaught Place. It's too much, you can DEFINATELY find a cheaper place, and yes, it can be clean as well.

metro does not connect NZM station..

If you want a pleasant stay and away from Hassle then stay away from Central Delhi i.e. Old Delhi, Pahar Ganj OR CP...even though CP would be better than other two...

I guess Master Guest House is in New Rajendra Nagar, I stay very near to the place, however have never seen the guest house..it sure gets good reviews...the commuting distance might be higher, but I wont mind extra 10-15 minutes of commuting time if I can manage to stay on peaceful place..

Would it be easy to get from the area where Master Guest House is to Old Delhi? Metro or taxi?

Thanks

Graham

If you are interested in the HISTORICAL DELHI, QutubMinar then Chandni Chowk etc. and after that India Gate. India gate and Chandni Chowk are connected by Metro. In between (if you get time) some where go for Humayun's Tomb.

I've always taken a private vehicle, and never taken the Metro. I'd always recommend a private vehicle, because I can't vouch for public transport.

Master Guest house is Hardly 5 Kilometers from Central Delhi...and yes the Nearest Metro station would not be more than 10-15 minutes walking distance..however If you hire a auto rickshaw..it will also take 15-20 minutes depending on the time of the day !!
