Alternative to Ginger hotel in Delhi
I’m trying to find somewhere to stay in Delhi for 2 nights in Jan. We wanted to stay at Ginger Hotel as this seems to be the favourite on here but unfortunately they’re full. We only have 2 days to see Delhi so need to stay somewhere fairly central – probably CP or Ram Nagar. We’d prefer not to be right on the main bazaar.
I came across the Ajanti but it is listed on Trip Advisor as one of the top 10 dirtiest hotels so that has put us off somewhat! Has anyone stayed anywhere that is cheap-ish that they can recommend. We can pay around 1000-1500r for a double. |

Try the Youth Hostel. Reasonably priced, but right in the middle of a very posh area, where the only other accommodation option is five-stars!

Youth Hostel is nice place. Nick is very right in Chankyapuri area, no accommodation available at that price.
If you want to stay at a central place, I'll say go to Arakashan Road, it has some nice hotels in your price range.

thanks! godwin and youth hostel both seem good options. We may do the youth hostel as it's near the airport and we land in the middle of the night. Is it easy enough to get to main attractions and new delhi station from the hostel? We're happy to get auto rickshaws etc

I tried to book the Ginger for Jan online and it came up 'booked out'. I sent them an email, just in case the internet was incorrect and their response was that they haven't started taking bookings for that time. Bookings open a month before date required.
So they may not be booked out, we may just need to wait until closer to the time (say Dec). I know this does no help much when you are wanting to get your trip all organised and pre-planned but thought I'd pass it on. |

Ginger has not finalised it's prices for the coming season, hence they are not accepting any bookings.

Ginger I do not know, although It was certainly on my list of possibles when I visited Delhi. I chose the Hostel largely because it is within walking distance of where my friends lived, and to stay anywhere else in that area would have been ten-times-plus on the price.
If anyone wants an easy introduction to Delhi or India, then I really recommend it. This is the diplomatic area of Delhi, and the home to diplomatic staff and VIPs. Very posh, very clean; absolutely no worries about night-time walks on quiet streets. |

I've been trying to book Ginger for the 3rd week of November since mid August. The only inof I get out of them sis that bookings have not been opened up yet and they will revert back to me when they are. The lastest mail I have (yesterday) said they are taking booking upto 10th November but no later.

Hi All,
Yep I guess Hotel Ginger has not yet opened up bookings for December, Jan. They normally open up bookings one month in advance. So do check out the site around one month before your planned date. One Strategy i devised to figure out if bookings are open or not is to see the period 0f +- 10 days. If all are showing unavailable then i believe that bookings have not yet opened. The other stratergy is to just pick up the phone and call them up. Regards Prasanth |
