Akshardham Temple, India
Hi, just wondering has anybody visited this Swaminaryan temple in Delhi.
It isn't listed in any of the guide books, but having just been there in October, I must say it was mindblowing. It was the highlight of our trip & was just so hard to believe it was just built 12 months ago! Anyone been, what did you think?? Last edited by Nick-H : Nov 23rd, 2006 at 23:56. If you are passing through London check out the Swaminaryan temple in Neasden there, too. It is also pretty amazing!

The light and sound show was impressive. My 10 yr. old son liked the temple more than the Taj Mahal!!! |

It is a nice temple, with quite a touristy feel to it.
If you are in Delhi, you may also visit the ISKONS Krishna temple. |

One of the worst cases of commercialized religion that I have had the misfortune to encounter. And the stupid security rules did not allow a small folding umbrella or a credit card sized calculator.

Akshardham is an architectural masterpiece, thats about it,i dont think it has any religious significance, and they dont allow you to take any damn thing, forget about camera and cellphones, you cant even wear your belt.

Due to an earlier terrorist attack at the temple in Ahmedabad tight security is in place.

It is less of a temple and more of a 21st century stone carved monument - picnic spot like atmosphere prevails. Someone hs rightly pointed out here - don't go there looking for a spiritual experience.
