Airport bus FROM Delhi to airport

Hey everyone,

I've read some threads discussing taking a bus from the airport, but what about the other way around? I'm leaving Delhi tomorrow night and would prefer to take a bus. But where do I find it? I've asked five different people near CP and they all pointed at different directions. Any tips?

Kashmiri Gate would be better, but CP would be fine. Thanks a bunch!

Get a prepaid taxi from the airport. Would cost you Rs300-400 max to get anywhere in Delhi.

The person wants to get from the city to the airport though.

It's annoying that it's so hard to find online (as well as on the ground) where to catch the bus yes. My info is old and won't help you.

Technically, I think both the EATS bus and the regular public bus (the latter at non-crazy hours only I think) ought to call at both Connaught Place (which covers quite a confusing area though where even taxi drivers always seem to get lost, as you may know) and New Delhi Railway Station (Paharganj) (as well as at Kashmiri Gate, aka the ISBT, or Inter State Bus Terminal, yes). That doesn't help you much, as where and if they stop seems to change all the time, and as you've found it can be extremely hard if not to say just plain maddening to find anything like a clear answer to it on the ground (nor can you always be sure am I being directed to the right bus here, or some agent, or someone's wishful figment of the imagination, or...)

Allow for plenty of time to figure out where & how if you do insist on taking them (as well as for the ride itself if you do manage to figure it out, and the usual of the bus never leaving despite the driver kicking the pedal all the time for half an hour or so), and count on half a nervous breakdown if it doesn't work out, and you suddenly and slowly but surely start feeling yourself pressed for time. Believe me, I've been there (having once been a cool backpacker insisting on "doing it" by the cheapest public transport available myself). Alternatively, opt for the easy route of settling for a cab arranged by your hotel. Or see what deal you can strike with such yourself beforehand. Either by negotiating with a pre-paid taxi stand or not (there is one at NDLS, so New Delhi Railway Station, inside the parking lot in front of it, Paharganj side. There ought to be one on Janpath, by the India Tourism office, if that info isn't outdated. I think but can't be sure I've just recently seen one at the ISBT.)

I've found in Mumbai at least hotels will normally get you a fair rate for an airport ride, though you might conceivably get a better rate on the streets. At a difference of Rs. 100 max. or so in that city, who cares really for the luxury of having it over & done with.

btw I see now the poster was also leaving "tomorrow night" on the 26th, so that ought to be over & done with. Might be of use to others though

Rs. 50 to downtown is correct yes; I wasn't clear is this the EATS bus or the regular regular bus (and if so, if the latter exists still). Struck me as a little high for a public bus.

I fell asleep this time and coming from the airport (and was dropped at the wrong spot, that is to say they forgot to alert me to my drop-off point), so can't say how long it took I guess count on an hour and a half or so to be on the safe side. As noted, rather more if coming from town you need to figure out where to get on at all first.

Hi everyone,

I gave up trying to find the mythical airport bus FROM the city, and took the Metro instead. I got off at the last stop, which was Dwarka Sector 9, I believe. That part was great (no traffic jam, A/C, 20 Rs) but as soon as I left the station I got pulled and pushed by a dozen rickshaw and taxi drivers; I ended up having to bargain for a while.

For future reference: Take the Blue Line to the end station. There are plenty of rickshaws and taxis waiting, but you'll have to haggle. I think this is still a viable option especially during rush hour traffic (that is, until they finally extend the subway all the way out to the airport).
