A day in Delhi
I’ll be landing in Delhi Monday at 9-15pm.
I was originally planning to stay for three nights, but as it is going to be unseasonably hot and with dengue fever being rife, I will in all probability, use my contingency plan and catch the Dehra Dun Express on Tuesday evening and spend a couple of days in Dehra Dun or Mussoorie. This leaves me with a full day in Delhi. My plan is to organize a car and driver, early morning from my hotel in Paharganj and do a bit of a tour before it gets too hot. My three must do’s are a early morning saunter in Lodhi gardens, a stroll through Dili Hatt and a nice meal in air conditioned comfort. The Standard restaurant springs to mind! Any further ideas from the fine folk of Delhi would be much appreciated. If I have a couple of hours to kill on a hot day what would be your suggestion? The train leaves from Sarai Rohilla at about 8-40 pm…………..how much time will it take to get there from Paharanj? Alternatively would it be better to catch it at Old Delhi an hour and a half later. Thanks Leith |

So much to do and it really depends on your interests. But I would do the National Museum - nice and cool inside and with all the moth balls/disinfectant they use - nary a mossie to be seen. Khan market is good for a stroll and/or to pick up a good book and/or some Monk's hootch for your train travels.
If I remember correctly Sarai Rohilla is quite near Karol Bagh, so 15-20 minutes should do it - worst case!
