3 - 4 days in Delhi with kids

Hi,

at the end of December, my friend and myself will travel South with 6 kids.
We have 2, 3 days to spend in Delhi before our departure

We plan to visit :
- Appu Ghar,
- the new Akshardham Temple
- the sound and light show at the red Fort

We've been before to the 'usual' Red Fort, Jama Majid, Qutb Minar, Humayun's Tomb etc.

Would like to take them also to a GREAT movie theatre.

Which movie theatre would you recommend?

Do you know any other good amusement park?

Where else to go ?

Thank you for your advice, recommendations and own experience

Kailash

Hello Kailash,
sorry, no suggestions, but you said you were there before (with kids?).
As I´m gonna go the first time with family (I´ve been to India several times alone) I´d like to ask you if you know any family - friendly hotels with big rooms (two double beds) in Delhi.
Thanks!

Hi Steve,

I usually stay in the tibetan Majnu Ka Tilla area.
We take double rooms with extra bed.

I'm not the best person to help you with large family rooms but I've been to hotels with this kind of accommodation in other places then Delhi (Mysore, Mc leod Gang, Manali, Leh etc).
This possibility is also available in Delhi, for sure but i can't recommend you any friendly place.

There's an international toilet museum in Delhi which could be very amusing for a bunch of kids. (I'm planning to stop in on my next trip!)
There are some nice new cinemas in Connaught Place, I think they are part of a chain called Plaza? Delhi members will probably know. They have both Hindi and English films there and there are plenty of western food chains in CP too if the kids are a bit sick of Indian stuff.

India gate is a nice place to go for a stroll. Check out the Museums, see if a classical music program is going on at the nearby Kamani auditorium or a play at the Max Muller bhawan. Check out the movies being screened at the Shakuntalam audi in Pragati maidan.

Visit Dilli hat where artists from all parts have stalls for ethnic handmade goodies. See the amazing varieties & also see some of the artists at work. Food court here has food stalls from all parts of the country, try out the delicacies there.

For shopping you can try the market in Sarojini nagar. Very decent place with good prices go ahead & bargain everyone do so. This place is near the Dilli Hat.
Good luck.

Thank you Guerik and Jyotirmoy!

I realise I forgot to mention that the children live in India and are used to indian food and markets and things like this.

I've seen on a delhi map a place Fun 'n' Food Village : is it the same thing as the Dilli hat?

thank you

No this Fun & Food Village is a different place but a very nice place to take the kids.
There is a Doll's Museum near ITO.
The Railway Museum is also very interesting.
The Appu Ghar in Pragati Maidan is for kids.
Hope this helps.
