2 or 3 days Delhi

In early september I will be 3 days in Delhi. I am thinking of making a day trip to Agra (hey, I'm a tourist, right ), which leaves me 2 full days in the capital city.

I was thinking of spending one day in the area around Connaught Place, visiting places like Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Birla Mandir. Is it possible to cover this area on foot, walking around? How far would it be between e.g. Connaught Place and the Red Fort? Are there other interesting sights here? Maybe India Gate?

The 2nd day I may visit the places further away, like Qutub Minar and the Lotus Temple. Would anybody recommend a visit to the Lodi Gardens and Humayun's Tomb? Is it easy to use public transport to visit these places? Did I miss some important sights here?

Do you think I am squeezing in to many places for 2 days? Or am I asking too many questions?

Red Fort, CP and Jama Masjid are all within walking distance of each other. The Birla Mandir is also nearby, a short walk or rickshaw ride from Connaught Place. A visit to all four sites would probably take a full day.

Lotus Temple is awesome, well worth a visit, takes about an hour to check it all out. Qutub Minar is also well worth visiting, you should allow around 2-3 hours for that. Hamayun's Tomb takes around 2 hours to check out, maybe a little longer, Lodi Gardens can be covered in an hour if all you want to do is stroll around.

You will need to check for site opening times, to see what you can realistically do in one day. Sometimes its better to see fewer things, and appreciate them more, than to see everything in a rush.
