Do you want to join trek from Yuksum to Dzongri in north east???

Hi All,
I am planning trekk in Sikkim starting 27th Sept 2008.. Looking for some energetic, experienced and enthusiastic team members to join me on this adventure trip.
Expected expense per person would be around Rs.25000/- (625USD) (Including airfare to & fro BLR-CAL-BLR). Might be 10-15% here and there depending on the group.

It will be famous trek of Yuksom To Dzongri may be we will add Goecha La not sure, with expected mixed group of people say around 8 guys/gals. End to end it would take 2 week in all. We would need to arrange , tent, sleeping bags, food, utensils to cook, porters, cook, guide, etc. I am working to arrange and book. I starting booking for the trip once I have number group members final with me. I have attached the draft plan let me know if you need more details and you are interested, write me on rajsriv(AT)yahoo(DOT)com. Something more i would like to share about last year Sept.I have done trek in North East. It is known as Singalila Trek. You can find pics on http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/rajsri...astTrekSep2007
This trek was also very interesting for me, as did the same trek route exactly 10 years back, when I was in Calcutta. Now the team members were different, itinerary and other logistic were changed but the beauty of nature and trek remained the same. I found these jungles and mountains standing there, untouched and unspoiled. Preserved in the lap of nature. Apart from when you find, annoying non bio degradable plastic wrapper of Chewing gums, toffees and empty plastics packs of chips and plastic bottles, left here and there by careless trekkers. Anyway it was nice to trek through mountains and jungles with magnificent close view of Kanchenjunga snow peaks range and glimpses of Mt. Everest from some part of it. Write me if you need more details. Then in 2006 I had gone to Leh that was also amazing trip , you will find details on my blog http://rajsriv.blogspot.com also you can have look at the pics at http://picasaweb.google.com/rajsriv9...pitiToLehJul06
let me know if you need more details.

Regards

companions for Yambong- Singalila trek (West Sikkim)

I am planning to do a trek in the Sikkim side of Singalila range. It would be a 14 day trek starting from the village of Nambu and culminating at Yuksom. The route passes through pristine forests rich in birds and wildlife. There is also a good chance of seeing Blue sheep and the Himalayan Thar near the Lampokhri area. I intend to start the trek around 5th or 6th of October. Am attaching a map of the trek . Please let me know if anybody would be interested in joining me for the trek.

Sikkim in Dec ???

Hey !! i am new to this community. I was wondering if there's any hiking trails open in Sikkim during the month of December. I have not done any hikes in the region and would really appreciate if anyone can give me a good starting point from where I can follow. I have been travelling in different parts of Darjeeling tho. I will be in Indian in mid Dec. I am looking for a max 7 days tour from kolkata...so a 3-4 days hike will be good. Can anyone please suggest anything? If there's any group doing anything during that time, how do I get in touch with them? Thanks a lot

trek partners needed: first half of october

Hi everybody
I will be travelling to the area in the very beginning of October (arriving to IXB on September 30th actually), plan to do either sandakhpu trek or singalila trek, at least some part of it, because I can allot no more than 7 days for trekking. Looking for trek companions to share the cost Goecha La is no option, for i did this trek this April
also, can anyone give a bit of advice on costs for a non-indian trekker, in case i don't manage to find myself a company? Is it better to arrange the trek in advance or is it possible to find a guide on the spot?
Thanks in advance!

Info on Cholamu and Phallung ???

Hey !!! Thanks a lot. Really appreciate your replying to my post.
I just got to know about the Cholamu Lake. Can anyone give me some further information about this one? How to get there? Is it accessible in Dec? Will appreciate if anyone can suggest good tour operators/agents. Can this be done without a tour operator? I will have a few American friends travelling with me. Given a choice I love to travel on my own, but from what I read you can travel to many parts of Sikkim only thru Travel agents....i donno if thats the real case
Also I would love to have some information about Phallung. From the information I gathered, one can take a Yak safari from Thangu to Phallung....its 3 hrs hike...Seems like there is this "Marco Polo" camp there where one can stay overnight and get back the next day. How does one book the Marco Polo camps? Can it be done without a Travel agent (again)?
Thanks in Advance

Arkajit,

Yes in north sikkim you will need to go through a travel agent. Also foreigners are only allowed to go to Thangu so it will not be possible for you'll to visit Cholamu. In any case permits for Cholamu are not easy to get even for Indians, as everything depends on the border sitation with China at that particular point of time.

To the best of my knowledge there is no place by the name of Phallung near Thangu. There is a Marco Polo camp but that is on the route to Zemu glacier and a four day trek from Thangu.

hi i have trekked sandakphu twice (jan 2008 & march 2007). want to go there again nevertheless.

also, even if you trek to sandakphu alone, it should not cost you more than 1500 rupees.

bye
