Travel From Gangtok to Siliguri During Strike

I have to get down to Siliguri on the 18th of July (this Saturday). Will I be able to take a jeep from Gangtok to Siliguri or is this not possible because of the strike? I heard the road is blocked but I have not been able to confirm this. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

No idea, just that the latest reports I've seen on it here didn't look very optimistic for the time being: Darjeeling Strikes .

Probably a situation prone to sudden developments.

I spoke to a guy in Darjeeeling. He said the roads are open for emergency vehicles only, but there are some sumos getting to darjeeling from Siliguri, especially if you are know to the would-be blockers. Maybe you could try and get a local to go with you?. But he said even that was a bit touch and go, so it looks dubious.

Sikkim is such a peaceful state but it always suffer because of Darjeeling Strikes. There should be some alternate route to Sikkim.
