Singalila Ridge Trek in early Dec.

Im thinking of doing this trek around Dec. 1. I want to do it independently. Can you give me any advice about hiring a guide, staying at trekkers huts and how many days it should take. I want to try to do it in four, is that possible? Thanks for and advice you can give me!

I have done said trek a couple of times in early Dec. and will be in Darj. 1/12/09 and heading off probably 3rd or 4th.
First day- taxi to Manebajang, walk to overnight halt at Jaubari-stay at elcheapo hotel-preferably Teachers Lodge.
Second day- trek to Sandakphu + plenty of places to stay.
Will then have rest day and day after trek out to Phalut.
nb Rimbik and jeep to Darj. one day trek away from Sandakphu-so entirely feasable to get from Darj.-Sandakphu - Darj. in four days, could probably do it in three at a push! Lodging/teahouses aplenty until Phalut where there is only one trekkers hut. If you are fit and really push you could get out to Phalut and back in four days but would not recommend as there is the chance of snow, especially Sandakphu onwards but usually snow from Jan.
Last time (06) trekked out to Phalut and back by myself and no problems. Have heard that you MUST take guide/porter with you but will check this out with Darjeeling friends.
