we are planning to visit India for 7 days, we are going to visit Siliguri & darjeeling. We will be at Siliguri for 2 days. Regarding Siliguri can anyone please inform us--
1. where we could stay. it should not be expensive one but should be safe and near to some place where we can enjoy the night life of the city or can have a walk.
2. what to eat or not to.
3. finally where to go. we would like to see the natural sights as well as as urban too.

Hi Salman!
Welcome to India and to India Mike community!
I'm not from Siliguri, but I traveled quite a lot via Siliguri. There are lot of, I repeat lot of, Hotels at Siliguri, both budget class as also in expensive category. So, getting hotels suitable for your needs would not be a problem at all. I have used only two hotels so far and they are: (!) Hotel Mainak - it is WB Govt. Tourism Hotel, little expensive and the other one is (2) Airview Hotel - it is very popular budget category hotel, near bus/taxi Stand, eating place, market etc. on Hill Curt Road, which is the main artery of the city. You will be there only for 2 days. With this brief stop over, you do not expect much to see around Siliguri. If you are nature lover, you can take a cab and take a day trip to Mahananda Wild Life Sanctuary, which is almost adjacent to the city. Siliguri is very urbanized city. So, staying in this city would give you ample scope of getting a feel of "urban Siliguri"!
