Sikkim visa permit

I plan to visit Sikkim in Early January 2010, I wander is it still possible to apply for permit at Rangpo check point?

Where is Rangpo check point? I know it takes about a day and a bit of legwork to acquire a two week Sikkim visa in Darjeeling. Once in Sikkim, you will need to apply for other tourist permits for the inner-line (generally very expensive for foreigners). The other option is to apply for the Sikkim permit when you apply for your Indian visa.

It's still possible to do it at Rangpo, but not at the other entry points.

Takes about 10 - 15 mins at the entry.

As you already know you want to visit Sikkim, it's really the easiest way to declare this fact right when applying for the Indian visa. Mention the places you want to visit. If you do not want to go very close to the Tibetan border, you'll get your Sikkim-permit with an extra stamp joining your visa for India.
