Sandakphu Trek 07 Oct 2011

Hello All,
We have planned for Sandakphu trekking on 07 Oct 2011. Most of us (3 out of 4) are trekking for the first time. But due to the recent earthquake in Sikkim, we are bit worried about our plan. Can you please suggest if it is OK to trek Sandakphu at that time or we need to alter our plan and also if you can provide some update on recent condition of the trek route shall be great help.

I know its hard to do but just alter the plan immediately and be practical.

I also have plans to visit Sandakphu / Falut around last week of October, naturally I was also bit worried and called up DGHC office at Kolkata, yesterday. From there I got the information that treks are going on now, but vehicles along the way are not been allowed as the road condition inside Singalila National Park are still not known. They hope to get all the informations by next week.

Thanx a lot Arijit for your information.. As said by "PKanti" the cancellation is very painful.. Since it would be my first trek(if??) so I was very excited about this also.. Any way if the condition does not permit we have to cancel it.. but still hoping for the best..

I called a DGHC official(got the mobile number 9903174047 calling DGHC office Kolkata) and he informed us trekking to Sandakphu is ON and also informed us the trek road is not affected.

Can you please confirm above.. as many of us has planned for Sandakphu trek in Oct 1st Week, but unable to decide if it is possible or not...
