Normally monsoon recedes by the month of September but this year the weather has gone crazy.
In Sikkim you should visit north Sikkim, Ravangla & Pelling.

Darjeeling and sikkim

hi! I'm not sure it's a good time to visit darjeeling and sikkim but if you do.. here's some tips from my trip there in May.

In darjeeling.. pls dont stay in one of those popular tourist hotels in the middle of the city, you will miss out on the charm of the place!
We found this heaven of a budget guesthouse called Bird'd Eye View. (I have been trying unsucessfully to add a hotel review so here goes!) Will cost you about 700-800 bucks a night. It's a 20 min steep walk up from the point that the taxi's drop you off (or you can get a cab). The sit out area here offers undoubtedly one of the best views in town! The walks up and down to the guesthouse and view over breakfast were my favourite times of the day!
It's run by 2 very helpful n friendly brothers. One of their no's: 0975972955 (Uttam)... do ask Uttam to make you his pancakes if you stay here!
It's on Zakir Hussein Road. Just a little above Cidar Inn Hotel.

Sikkim is gorgeous!! We stayed at a place in South Sikkin called Borong. That's if your looking for couple of days of quiet and peace. A lovely, romantic place! There are only 2 places to stay in this village. The less expensive option is called Wild flower retreat. Each room is log cabin in the middle of the forest! Search on India Mike, you'll find more details on it.

Pelling was very nice too. We stayed at Rabdantse Residency- most of the rooms have a great view!

I didn't enjoy the food at sikkim too much though! my only complaint.

Do check about the weather- especially if your venturing into the more remote areas... there were several landslides in the area on our last day there and it was bit of an adventure how we had to get back!
