How safe is travel to Darjeeling/Gangtok

Hi

I am planning to travel to Darjeeling/Gantok in IInd week of May'10. Can somebody confirm if it is safe to travel to these places?? I am reallt getting mixed response from everybody and request very firm and valid reply backed by very reliable source of information.

Further, can somebody suggest where to stay at darjeeling/Gangtok.

Well I had been to darjeeling last week that is on 15th april and i found it very safe to travel we had been there with my family and was in darjeeling for 3days we really enjoyed the trip. but please do confirm with local people one or two days before u leave so that ur 100% sure.

well we stayed at tourist lodge at darjeeling and found it good well u can check in hotels coloum in indiamike for further details

I have returned from home on the 23rd of April there was no news of anything serious..only that it has started to rain a bit and kanchenjunga views were not good.The sun was up on alternate days..so if u are planning for april may go prepared to tackle the light rainfalls..
