getting from darjeeling to baghdogra fast

any advice out there for the most efficient and reliable way to get from darjeeling to baghdogra well in time to check in for a flight that leaves baghdogra at 1145h...

from what i have read the drive takes ~4h, and we can't really afford to miss this flight, so it means leaving at about 0500h i guess...

Or hire a chopper !!

Its better to start an evening before from Darjeeling and spend the night in Siliguri. Next morning go to Airport from Siliguri itself.

Siliguri is good advice from a prudence and itinerary viewpoint. However Siliguri is a dusty depressing hole in the ground - a filthy rathole - a disgusting dump - a place to be forgotten as soon as it recedes into the distance. Just the thought of spending the night in Siliguri again makes my bones shiver.

If you hire a jeep and start at 0500 hrs, and come down by Pankhabari Road, you should reach the airport within 0900 hrs. Jeeps are reliable tough nuts on these roads.

The most wise decision is to stay in Siliguri the night before, there is not much to do at evening/night in Darjeeling. Another option is to hire a jeep for you but the price will be really expensive, nevertheless ask in the shared jeeps stand because is probbably thet jeeps start working really early in the morning to reach the trains/flights...

If you are not ready to spend the night at Shiliguri, then may be at Kurseong (almost halway) OK, I am not sure if you like the idea.... but lolajuice, since I can see that you are a photographer you may like to spend the day here .... http://www.makaibari.com/ecotour.html
