Darjeeling to Gangtok

Hi all,

I am planning 6 days family trip to Darjeeling in December/January. Would like to know the places I could visit in my short trip. And yes my parents would love to see snowfall also. So which is the best month to visit?

Thanks a lot friends.

You might like to take a look at the many threads on the subject in the Sikkim forum. For six days you say: how many would you spend in Darjeeling and how many in Sikkim? A bare minimum of four days would be necessary to travel up to Northern Sikkim and enjoy the snow.

Dear Aks,

In Darjeeling you can see:
1) Japanese Temple & Peace Pagoda
2) Ghoom Monastry.
3)toy train
4)Baista Loop
5)Ava Art gallery
6) Himalayan Mountaineering Institute.
7)Himalayan Zoo
8)Tea Garden ( Do buy lots of tea for your frnds & family from the tea gardens rather than from the market, comes cheaper and fresh.
9) Tenzing Rock
10) Mall Road – Best place to shop impoted branded shoes, jackets, silver jewellery, gift items, handbags and umbrellas at cheap prices. Donot forget to bargain.

For Gangtok,
1)Roomtek Monastry,
2) Institute of Tibetology.
3) Cable Car
4) Bakhthung Waterfalls.
5) Intitute of handicrafts and handlooms.
6) Botanical Garden
7) Flower Show
8)MG Road

The best option is to book a site seeing tour for each day and those people will show you all the places.

Good Luck
