Darjeeling in December 2009

i shall be travelling to India in Decmber and January for my second time and would like to visit DArjeeling and perhaps Tezpur but I hate snow! Anyone know what the weather will be like at that time and if the toy train runs through winter?

You are supposed to visit Darjeeling in the month of May-June if you hate snow. September-October will also good season in Darjeeling. It's the coldest months you are planning to visit Darjeeling. Toy trains runs throughout the year if not any major calamity.
Tezpur is located in Assam state and you will not find any snow there even in December and January.

Thankyou very much for your reply. I have now drawn up an itinery and it looks as though we shall be in Darjeeling at the beginning of January and then on to Assam. if you have any recommendations for homestays i would be very grateful.

Its the best time to be in Darjeeling. Clear blue sky with the snow capped mountains in the background.
