Try Sonar Bangla, very close to the Mall and provides a very good atmosphere and great food.

Yes, I agree, the Shangri La Regency is excellent. Try to get a room on the fifth floor with views of Khangchendzonga. It is a five minute (easy) walk from Glenarys.

Dear All,
I am visiting Darjeeling from 23rd September evening to 26th September morning. I am traveling with my wife and 4 year old son. I am looking for a decent hotel in the budget of 3000-4000/ night. Any suggestions please? I have checked out Shangrila as well as Sonar Bangla. Just wanted to check some more options before I finalise. Thanks in advance and cheers, Abhinay 00-91-9966475522 |

For your quite considerable budget, coolabhi99, you might like to try the Hawk's Next Resort, situated on a hilltop just outside town. It is run by the same owner at the Dekeling (not to be confused with that budget hotel). Telephone, according to Lonely Planet, at the Dekeling in Darjeeling is 0354-2254159. The Hawk's Nest also has a website.
I have not stayed there myself but have earmarked it as a good possibility for a return visit. If your budget stretches even further then you have also the choice of the Elgin. |

Hi,
I had just visited Darjeeling 2 days way with my husband. We stayed @ Shangri La Regency and the trip was awesome. The person to be contacted is Mr. Ranjan Lama. He had organized our pick n drop from airport and site seeing also. When we reached there he had gone out of country but everything was so nicely organized that we didnt face a single problem in anything. The views from room no 301 are awesome. Though we didnt get many as it was raining all these days. But I'll suggest you that hotel. Infact the mall road is two minutes walking from there. Vineet |

Vineet,
Welcome back from your Honeymoon! So you faced no problems in the end with strikes or landslides? Did you enjoy your journey? How was Sikkim? |
