any suggestion on travel plan of two days in Darjeeling
Dear,
I will arrive at 0:05 in NJP railway station on Oct.3. Are there any cars I can take to Darjeeling or Should I stay overnight there and go to Darjeeling the next day? And I will leave Darjeeling at 13:00 on Oct.6 from Bagdogra. Could anyone give me some suggestions on the travel plan for the two days? and any good GH recommended in Darjeeling? Thanks a lot, Amy |

I may be wrong but I think there are shared jeeps that go from NJP to Darjeeling very often, and should certainly be available when a train arrives, they leave as soon as they are full. However, why miss all that beautiful landscape by driving in the dark? You can always stay the night at NJP and then catch the toy train or shared jeep up to Darjeeling in the morning and enjoy the ride.
Hope thats helps a little, Kate |

I would agree with Naughty Nurse. You can find a lot of vehicles, both shared and exlusive that would drive you to Darjeeling but then travelling at that time of the night is not recommended as there might be disruptions due to the rain and more importantly you would miss the view. Also there would be a lot of bargaining to do at that time. For travel plan I would recommend that you skip tiger hill as it would be too cloudy. Must visit is mirik particularly the drive from the town. For GH, i wonder if you would be able to arrange a stay at any of the tea gardens (wonderful experience) or the planters club (particularly the goodricke suite).

Dear Amy,
I would suggest you to take exclusive vehicle but if you are alone then sharing taxis are best choice from NJP. Exclusive taxi will not cost you more than Rs.1800/- You can reach Darjeeling the same day OCT 3 within 3-4 hours. I would advise you to book a hotel in advance for yourself. I can suggest Shangrila Regency coz we stayed there last month and the place is best in all respects(Location, views, hospitality and food) You can visit their website www.shangri-la-regency.com/ and contact Mr. Ranjan Lama through email. He'll guide you further. For Oct. 4 Mr. Lama can arrange site seeing for you. Even he can send the taxi to NJP to pick you up on Oct 3 rather than you getting harassed bargaining with the drivers at the station. Oct 5 - You can check out the Local market, Mall Road. Oct 6 - To Bagdogra Airpot costing Rs. 1800/- Wishing you good luck for your trip... Vineet |
