Hey -

Thanx for replying to my post. I'm trying to find a way to book a ticket on GMG airlines...they don't have a way online. Any idea? I definitely am interested in the rocket service...

Are Sundarbans ok to visit now after cyclone? We're getting reports of spreading disease and all tourist boats being requisitioned to allow for humanitarian aid.

I returned from Sundarbans yesterday afternoon & seems almost okay for tourists. Though Bangladesh ws baly affected by cyclone but thi time some East-South discrics were mostly affeced (barisal,Borguna, Patuakhali,Bagerhat). I found many foreign tourists in tht area. They id not face any disease or boat problem.

If u need any specific information, let me know.

Thanks for your info Mahmud. I went to Sundarbans, the place is magnificent! I went for 3 days/5 nights, ended at kautka and sailed back to Nariyanganj, absolutely superb.
I'm currently in Cox's bazar and head off into CHT soon. Anyone thinking of trying Bangladesh, don't think it, do it. The place is fantastic.

Hello Mahmud, yes I'm back in the UK now. My Bangladesh experience was amazing. I loved the country and it's people. I managed to see a great deal of the country. Dhaka exhausted me but the CHT, St. Martin's Island and the Sundarbans were a joy to behold. I even got myself on national tv being interviewed at Kuatka in the Sundarbans

Anyone else reading this, if you like India as much as me, you'll love Bangladesh. Go now before the tourists discover the place.

I've shoved some pics up on flickr for anyone interested http://www.flickr.com/photos/longsid...7603750952866/

Thank you so much or sharing your experience & photos. I always feel that the main promotor of Bangladesh tourism is the person who visited Bangladesh recently.

Hi Mahmud,

am currently in Chittagong and have a few days left before I go back to India. I really enjoyed the Rocket boat ride from Khulna to Dhaka, so I want to see more of Bangldesh cruising the rivers. As far as I know there is a rocket from Chittagong to Barisal on Monday mornings? Are there any boats going up the Padma from there? I could go to Dhaka from Barisal, but the boat starts in the evening and arrives in the morning, won't see much this way. Any input very much appreciated

BTW, I like Bangladesh a lot, thought LonelyPlanet's statement that in Bangladesh you'd meet the friendliest people ever was pretty bold before I came here, but I guess I have to agree The curiousness can be a little exhausting sometimes, though, at Bangla New Year in Dhaka I talked to about 200 people on that day. My first time here, but certainly not my last time.

Greets

P.S.: Thanks to all IMers who helped me planning my trip, you are in for a wrap-up of my first six months in India in the next few days (Bollywood Extra, being chased by a angry wild Elephant mum in Nagarhole, a wild Tiger 20m away from me while I sit at a campfire near Munnar,etc...)

Hi Friend, yes there is a steamer between Chittagong-barisal.But I am not whether it operates in monsoon or not. It goes through Bay of bengal then some other rivers of Barisal area (Not padma, Meghn)

Yes, almost Dhaka Barisal boats operate at night. So, if you want to see something you can take Dhka-Chandpur day time trip. This trip is also nice to enjoy riverine Bangladesh.

If you are in Dhaka again, please make me phone call to my mobile : 0171 4044498 to have a cup of tea.

Mahmud
