Why Bangladesh ?
Why Bangladesh ?
Bangladesh, a name perhaps you heard with political unrest flood, cyclone or any other calamity. But which country is far from those? I know there is no country in the world without these. The agony is that from Bangladesh Govt. or any other organization never protest such propaganda’s against Bangladesh; they never try to spread the actual picture of Bangladesh in the world.
As such, I would like to request you to come Bangladesh for a different experience. I will help you as much as possible (such as : Hotel reservation, advance Rocket, Train ticket booking, make visit plan & etc). My e-mail is <mahmud1971@gmail.com>
Believe, Bangladesh is much different than any other Asian countries.
Why BANGLADESH ?
You can choice Bangladesh for the following reasons :
1. It is cheap.
Bangladesh is one of the cheapest country of the world. Here you can take Breakfast+Lunch+Dinnar only for USD 1. The tariff of a modern hotel room in central Dhaka is only USD 3-5/night ( Including attached bath, fans).
2. To enjoy the Rural Life
To see the real rural life, Bangladesh is the best. There you will find music, dance, plays & other various folk arts that have been handed down for hundreds of years. Its nature, green paddy field, nostalgic pastoral scene and scent of grass, will relax your mind.
3. To enjoy the rivers
Bangladesh is a reverine country. There are around 230 rivers in this country. Big rivers, small rivers, canals & ponds are every where in Bangladesh You will be able to enjoy the river (life also) through passing by boats, Rockets Steamers or Big motor lanchaes.
4. To get great hospitality.
Bangladeshi people are famous for the hospitality. The always prefer to feed the guests rather than eating themselves. Just come & get experience.
5. The Sundarband : Wild experience.
The Sundarbans are the largest littoral mangrove belt in the world, stretching 80km (50mi) into the Bangladeshi hinterland from the coast. The forests aren't just mangrove swamps though, they include some of the last remaining stands of the mighty jungles which once covered the Gangetic plain. Since 1966 the Sundarbans have been a wildlife sanctuary, and it is estimated that there are now 400 Royal Bengal tigers and about 30,000 spotted deer in the area. It is also the part of World Heritage declared by UNESCO.
6. Cox’s Bazar : World’s longest sea beach.
Miles of golden sands, towering cliffs, surfing waves, rare conch shells, colorful pagodas, Buddhist temples and tribes, delightful sea-food--this is Cox's Bazar, the tourist capital of Bangladesh. Having the world's longest (120 kilometers.) beach sloping gently down to the blue waters of the Bay of Bengal, Cox's Bazar is one of the most attractive tourist sport in Asia.
7. St. Martins Island : an island of peace.
This small coral island about 10km (6mi) south-west of the southern tip of the mainland is a tropical cliché, with beaches fringed with coconut palms and bountiful marine life. There's nothing more strenuous to do here than soak up the rays, but it''s a clean and peaceful place without even a mosquito to disrupt your serenity.
8. Kuakata : The daughter of the sea.
Kuakata, locally known as Sagar Kannya (Daughter of the Sea) is a rare scenic beauty spot on the southernmost tip of Bangladesh. It is about 30 km in length and 6 km in breadth. At Kuakata excellent combination of the picturesque natural beauty, sandy beach, blue sky, huge expanse of water of the Bay and evergreen forest in really eye-catching. This beach the rare place of the world where you can enjoy both Sun rise & Sun set standing in the same place.
9. Sonargaon : The ancient capital of Bengal.
About 27 km. from Dhaka, Sonargaon is one of the oldest capitals of Bengal. It was the seat of Deva Dynasty until the 13th century. From then onward till the advent of the Mughals, Sonargaon was subsidiary capital of the Sultanate of Bengal.
10.Sylhet : Tea city
Sylhet is located in a gentle sloping upland valley between the Khasia, Jaintia and Tripura hills, bordering on Assam. Gentle slopes, rich light soil, a congenial climate and abundant rainfall have made Sylhet one of the largest tea-producing areas in the world. These conditions have also provided rich tropical forests where big game - tiger, panther and wild boar - abound. Tribal life is strong and folk dancing, like the famous Manipuri dance, is still performed by the local tribes.
11. Chittagong & hill tract districts.
You will enjoy the various tribal life & their culture while visit Chittagong & hill tract districts. (Rangamati, Khagrachori & Bandarban)
12. Why late ?
So, why late? Just make a plan to visit Bangladesh. I am sure; you will get a different something than ever.

" I know there is no country in the world without these."
From the CIA factbook:
"About a third of this extremely poor country floods annually during the monsoon rainy season, hampering economic development"
http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/...k/geos/bg.html
that's not exactly something I would overlook when planning a visit there....
However, it does seem like an interesting place.....

but the rest of the time it isn't flooded !! Just avoid travelling there between June and October, and you won't need to bring your rubber boots !!I was there earlier this year, and had a wonderful time. Check out my page:

I hope to go back again.
It amazes me that more travellers don't go there. During the three weeks of my visit, I travelled extensively, yet only saw *2* white faces - they were from an embassy in Dhaka! Now compare that to parts of India...

I mentioned this in my posting 'Bangladesh - thoughts and advice from my recent trip':Bangladesh - thoughts and advice from my recent trip
Bangladesh seems cleaner at times than India; I think that this is because it is poorer, and hence the scavengers pick up every last bit of anything that can be sold for recyling. For instance, in India there are often piles of plastic bags or bottles that no one can be bothered to deal with - in Bangladesh everything is collected and sold on.
From a traveller's perspective, you will find that the cheap hotels in Bangladesh are better looked after. In India, I tend to stay in the 150-300rs range of hotels, and have noticed that once you get below 150/night, the hotel owners seem to adopt a couldn't-care-less attitude, and really don't bother at all to maintain their rooms. As Bangaldesh is cheaper, rooms at this kind of price-range are better anyway, and even the owners of the cheapest hotels seem to make more of an effort. It might be coincidence, but I found a direct correlation between the price and the number of insects!! Some of the cheapest rooms that I stayed in had a worrying number of insect species
most notable being a very long type of millipede that rushes in and out of the shower plug-hole, and some huge flying cockroaches that can swoop on you at any time. If you are staying in cheap hotels, take your own mosquito net for sure
The buses are hugely cleaner than in India, and much better maintained, though the drivers seem to take more risks. The trains are not as good as in India, though the first class is excellent value, and not at all crowded.

I noticed the clean parts of rajasthan was where they hadn't been as touched by industrialization- still using cow dung to build houses and such - perhaps when everything is natural things are cleaner - still that would explain the difference between cleanliness in cities -or buses.....so you could be on to something - or perhaps for whatever reason their municiple services are better? how funny, i was just saying tonight that i must go to dhaka!
there was a photo exhibition in fremantle (a suburb of perth) of photos taken by street children in dhaka and i had been meaning to go.
but, it being the end of the school year and christmas and all, it slipped my mind. but i see that it is now in dhaka.
a perfectly good reason to go.
in fact, i have often wondered why, when bangladesh, pakistan and india were so recently one country, there seems to be so much more travel to india than pakistan or bangladesh?
anyone have any theories as to why this is?
