Which period of the year is good to travel & explore whole of India, Nepal & Bhutan?

Hello all,

I am an NRI and had just registered as an new member over here. I am planning to travel & explore whole of India along with Nepal and Bhutan if possible. We are 3 male's. Only myself is an Indian Passport Holder rest 2 of them are Malaysian Passport Holder. My question's are...

01) Is 2 to 3 months enough to explore whole of India along with little bit of coverage of Nepal & Bhutan if possible.

02) As we intend to Backpack how much INR can we assume to spend for the whole travel? Cheap and best.

03) Does Indian Passport holder need passport & visa to enter Nepal & Bhutan by land from India?

04) I guess Malaysian passport holder need visa to enter Nepal & Bhutan. So where should one apply in India?

05) Which month of the year is the best to start and end the travel. We are planning somewhere in-between Nov, Dec, Jan & Feb. Will the weather permit us to visit and cover all the tourist places mentioned in the below states and countries?

06) Our Itinerary is like this land in Kolkata > Bhuvaneshwar > Visakhapatnam > Chennai ( rest of Tamil Nadu ) > Kerala > Karnataka > Maharashtra > Gujarat > Rajasthan > Haryana > Punjab > Himachal Pradesh > Kashmir > Uttar Pradesh > Nepal > Sikkim > Bhutan > Aurnachal Pradesh > Nagaland > Manipur > Mizoram > Tripura > Meghalaya > Assam > West Bengal.

07) Is it possible to visit & enter Burma by land from India border? If so is passport and visa needed for Indian? And where to apply for visa for Malaysian passport holder?

Sorry for too many questions and thanks in advance.

regards....

I think you are trying to do too much in three months, and for two months, it would be ... well ... it's not impossible, but you won't be able to do much more than hit the main tourist sites and then back on the bus/train for the next town and next sites. You'd be exhausted, and maybe ill, by the time you left India.

Time of year: different for every part of India. It's very cold in the mountains in December, January, and February ... and it's hot and steamy in the South.

You and your friends will get Nepal visa at the border, but you must apply in advance for Bhutan and there are, I believe, special rules for those planning to travel there; you'll need to check further on this, as well as how it affects YOU as an Indian passport holder.

How much it will cost is pretty much up to you. If you will share rooms with your friends, of course, it will be much cheaper. Travelling alone, I spent around $US12 per day in small towns, much more in Kolkata and Delhi.

Some of your other questions can be answered by a search of this forum.

Indians do not require a visa to visit Bhutan. They are however required to complete certain formalities at the Indian Liasion Office in Phuentsholing town for which proof of Indian identity (ration card, I-card, passport, etc.) and four passport size photographs are required. They can enter Bhutan either by land or by air from Kolkata and Delhi availing the services of Druk Air.
