Same rituals, last week they were on fast and this week Hindus here. They never touched liquor few days before EID and here my friends in office are no no to liquor for 9 days.
True for you, a guy but not for me, a woman. India is way, way less uptight than Pakistan about women. I felt safe in Pakistan & was treated beautifully. You don't see the colorful vitality of all classes of women & girls in Pakistan. The upper class educated more secular Pakistani women are a tiny minority.

This was my experience after spending a month there. My husband didn't notice until I pointed it out since it's all very comfortable for men.

Actually they are still a feudal society.Lords can manage anything and in feudal set up every thing else is ment to please lords. So these lords, 90 percent being men, have nice time there.

Yes, a dumb like me could not escape observing most visible character of society there. Cooks, being called overnight from Karachi, battery of servants, country side farm house parties at Very very short notice. It is all openly visible.

Yeah, meat pretty much rules! But, as you said, it is delicious!

I have a friend who lived in Pakistan for 2 years and he's a vegetarian. I think he had a cook, since he lived there. Or he may have cooked for himself since he did have a house with a kitchen. He also lived in India for a few years & that was heaven for him (food-wise).

Like amritsar from centuries Lahore is famous for chooley.
"Kulchey te chooley" is better known street food than meats.
This freshly cooked spicy white Grams and bread is easily available from visiting vendors on fixed intervals.

What about puri-'chholey'? What about Jalebis? I went to Lahore when I was six month old (for my maternal uncle's marriage) - so my elders tell me. Got a Lahori's daughter as my wife. My father-in-law visited Lahore again to get the gold bricks that the family kept there but there were none, though he met with the family who occupies his house now.

they spoke of many aspects of life in pakistan but never mentioned dosas.

You should find Pakistani equivalent of Indimike and post your query on Dosa there - alternatively feel free to carry ready to cook Dosa packets to last your trip

I knew I was late with the post but was unware that the Op found what he had been looking for - Gosh I will have to read all the 4 pages

No I don't think they have a Pakistani version of India mike , I was just being cheeky but on the second thought it is only fair to assume that with such big internet population in Pakistan they should be having a travel forum of some kind.

Google gives 14 million hits for 'Pakistan Travel Forums' at http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en...n+travel+forum. I have gone through some. They are excellent (though their northern areas may not be safe for travel at the moment).
