I would be visiting Pakistan next week. Would, be staying in Lahore and capital Islamabad. Can any body help me with few of my questions on South Indian food? I know it is not common food, there but some thing like, we get in Delhi or Dubai will do. 1. Is south Indian food available in or around Lahore and Islamabad? 2. Is Dosas and Sambar authentic or like what we get in Amritsar. 3. Are there some places (except star hotels), which employ south Indian cooks? 4. Any other street food which is locally famous and places. I would like to relish street food at small place rather then the five star hotel stalls. ![]() |

I seriously doubt that you would find Dosa anywhere in Pakistan.....
You'll find Chaat, Samosas, Pakoras, Jalebis, Barfis and other Indian sweets The most popular street food there is Kebabs.

In Dubai it is very common, and cities of Indian panjab too have some thing (non authentic) to offer. Don’t they have some thing on lines of Indian Coffee Home? That means filter coffee would be difficult to find. ![]() |

Pakistani's are meat eaters, and mostly sneer at vegetarian fare. Add the fact that a Dosa is a South Indian dish, and Pakistan is way north, your chances of getting a Dosa are diminshed to minscule probablities. And, not to get controversial, but there are hardly any Hindus left there - they have been eleminated or have been fleeing for their lives. So, enjoy the kebabs, and have Dosas in India! |

Kashmir and Pehlgam is in India. And the last thing in the world you want to do it compare it with Pakistan.
Dubai is truly a cosmopolitan city and there is a huge Indian population that lives and works there, so easy availability of Dosa. And which city did you say was cosmopolitan in Pakistan ? Try your luck, I would say chances of getting a dosa are close to zero, and even if you get, it would be worse than Amritsar for sure. |

I remember reading an article in newspaper long back that, there are couple of places (resturants) in Lahore where they serve south indian food / dosa and supposedly is quite famous and lot of upper middle class people come there. A quick search in google, I could find this place where they server south indian food.
Ponderosa South Indian Restaurant Indian Ponderosa South Indian Restaurant, Karachi, Sind (en), Pakistan +92 21 452-9877 But, again this place is of not much help to you as you won't be going there. Happy dosa hunting in Pakistan. Cheers! |
