Where next ?

Dear Indian Mikers

I have visited India 8 times in the last 15 years ( I obviously love it ! ) and have travelled from Kerala to Ladakh. My only regret is that I haven't yet had the courage to visit Kashmir ( should this be next ??? ). Anyway I am looking for suggestions for other countries that I might enjoy, or persuasion that Kashmir would be a good idea. I like ( in no particular order )interesting and accommodating people, mountains more than beaches and the countryside more than cities, good food, a beer, vibrant and unusual culture, sun, and budget prices.

Cheers for your advice,

Dave

P.S. I have previously visited Vietnam, Nepal, Costa Rica, Australia, NZ, etc. All the usual suspects.

where to go next?

Kashmir sounds great but if any doubts - what about China? BIG countryside with plenty of sights and wildlife. Or - if you don't mind the train journey( great in itself) Moscow to Bejing via Siberia and Mongolia on the Transiberian railway - fascinating. CTS do a brochure and I should think you can get more details online.

You can think to come Bangladesh. I think you will get different experience if you travel Bangladesh. Because Bangladesh is still treated off the beaten tract.

Where to go next ? what a glorious problem .I see you have been to Vietnam and like mountains . So , one rout that interests me is ,starting in Hanoi ,Vietnam ,up into china which ain't far and then along the other-side of the himalayas and up to Tibet, should be a very interesting and scenic rout

To Kashmir or not?

HI Dave,

I would say that if you are seriously thinking about Kashmir I would say just go for it. I had reservations about going giving the ongoing conflict but I am so glad that I the determination to go. I was there in June/July time of this year and had a wonderful peaceful and relaxing holiday. I didnt feel threatened at all, some may argue that I was lucky but hey - where is safe nowadays?

Good luck with your decision

Kashmir has been one of the famous destinations over the years. But Yes ! now a days it has become a so called troubled area because of some unmindful people who are working at the behest of ill intentioned neighbors and do not understand that they are causing a lot of harm to their own people.

Anyway, I would strongly recommend you to visit Kashmir as a lot of travelers are enjoying the beauty of that so called heaven on earth without any fear.
