Welcome to Bangladesh, a very different country of Asia.
- Yes, you have to take visa from Kolkata or Dellhi. - Bangladesh is safer than any other Asian countries. So, dont worry. - The direct Train service is still under finalization. But you can take Air con bus from Kolkata. The bus will take 10 hours & fare is USD 10 If you need any more info, feel free to ask me. mahmud |

Heavy. The Hindus of Bangladesh enjoy this festival almost like Indians. We muslims also visit our Hindu Friends residence & some Puja Mondops during the Puja.

You can obtain a visa at the Bangladeshi Consular Office at Calcutta. It's a ten minute walk from the St. Paul's Cathedral end of the Maidan, just to give you a general sense of the location. There are separate facilities for Indian Nationals and Other Foreigners. There's more of a queue at the Indian Natinals entrance, and service is through a narrow grilled window, whereas Other Foreigners get to go inside and speak accross a counter. Service standards are: apply in the morning to collect your passport with visa in the afternoon.
To go from Calcutta to Dakha the easiest method is to google up a bus linkage (the buses run daily). |

Especially St. Martin's island is probably a really beautiful place (white beaches, coral reefs for snorkelling, etc.)...after reading the LonelyPlanet on Bangladesh I think I might skip Nepal for a visa update

Not sure where I'm from

My best friend, who also grew up in India, visited Bangladesh last year and had a great time. He said the driving was just as crazy as in India, enough to get your adrenalin going
