Mm, I'm sure this one will be moved to the "crossing the border" forum.

You will find vegetarian food in Turkey, allthough it is not main staple there. They'll cook something up for you though. For some info from one of our earlier trips follow: Turkey report. A good website is: turkeytravelplanner.com/

Have fun,
Hans

Turkey is a delightful country to visit as a tourist. I have spent a fair amount of time in Istanbul - on business and as a tourist and found it wonderful. You must try to find a way to visit Cappadocia - as it is simply amazing place.

It is indeed easy to get vegetarian food in Turkey. The main dishes are a tad harder, but the vegetarian appetizers (mezze) are plentiful and sufficient for a meal.

Depending upon how careful a vegetarian you are, you might want to be careful with some of the soups and dishes like certain lentil soups, okra (called bamya) that are seeming vegetarian, but contain some non-veg components.

All the best.
