Point well made. The fact is, thousands of people make this trip every year, with no problems. The US state department is bound to exaggerate the dangers - the areas of Pakistan they describe are either completely off-limits to foreigners, or you need a permit and armed escort to visit. Using your own judgement and basic common sense is probably the best move to make.

Follow the simple rules suggested by others and you should be fine. If you are really scared of terrorists you could buy an AK47 and a bucket of bullets from one of them weapons bazaars ![]() |

Parvati valley
Hi , i just come back from the Parvati valley after spending two weeks there .. i was in Kasol and later hit Tosh village and then to Kheerganga ..it was amazingly beautiful and chilled out ( I revisited the parvati valley after a decade and inspite of all the the changes that have taken place in the parvati valley in the last decade this is still an old time favourite....I later hit the spiti valley and trekked to Chandertal lake from Batal and camped there for a couple of days and trekked over the ''kunzum la'' and hit Losar .. ..later to Kaza and then to the Tabo monastery .
from Tabo i went over to Chango in kinnaur valley and then to nako village and finally made up to Thangi village and did the ''kinnaer kailash'' circumbulation..starting from thangi to charang and then to lalanti and crossed the ''charangla''and came down to chitkul in the sangla valley.. ohh, what an amazingly beautiful place is '' chitkul''... the walk from chitkul to rakcham is soo very nice and then from rakcham to sangla .. ( sangla has changed quite a bit in the last decade) ...from sangla I came down to kalpa by bus and then walked over the old hindustan tibet road upto sarahan ....the highlight of my travels... all the amazingly beautiful and generous people of himachal always ready to help...''ohh what a long strange trip its been''...cheers |
