Tibet by road via Sikkim and Nathu La
Hi,
I am planning to do a road trip to Tibet by crossing the India-China border on road at Nathu La in Sikkim (I heard its going to open in March-April). Does anyone know if the authorities are planning to allow tourists through the pass? What permits may be required? Is it even feasible? Any information will be really appreciated. - Nishith |

From what I've read, I think this route is only going to open for traders, not for tourists.

Damn! :-/
Oh well, I'd read somewhere that the inauguration got deferred to next march as the work wasn't completed by Oct 2nd this year. But I didn't know it will be a trade only route.
What does it take to become a trader? ;-) Any ideas. BTW, Thanks for the prompt and informed replies. Have a very nice day... |
