Sri Lanka - weather in August?

Hi! I have an idea now to go to Sri Lanka for about 3 weeks in August.

Just wondering what the weather will be like at this time - will the monsoon make travelling/enjoying the beaches etc., impossible, or is it ok?

I realy don't mind a bit of rain during the day, but if it's going to be pouring down non-stop, I'm not sure it'll be worth it.

What do you think?

If you go to
http://www.wunderground.com/
and in the top left corner type in what city you are going to in Sri Lanka - Kandy Colombo etc. and scroll down you can put in for example last years date you can find out the weather history. Sri Lanka is small they have two monsoons. I think you will be in the middle but take an umbrella it can rain at any time. The north is relatively dry like Tamil Nadu India, the south and east are green and they all have different weather patterns and the monsoons hit at different times.
I have spent quite a bit of time in Sri Lanka over the past 9 years and its a lovely tropical paradise. Make sure you go to Adams Peak stay at the Greenhouse. Its out of the tourist area.
