that's because your government blocks anything coming into China that has anything to do with Tibet, whether it's news reports or blogs, I have a blog where I write about the Dalai Lama, Buddhism, China's treatment of Tibet, among other things. I have a site meter on my blog that tells me where my readers come from and I can tell you that the number of Chinese visitors stopped at 30 a LONG TIME AGO. since I get about 500 hits on my blog weekly from all over the world, I can only assume that my blog is blocked in China because I write about Tibet. |

Spineless. All the "Satyameva Jayate" are just feel-good slogans.

There is no need for either extremes. There is such a thing as allowing people to express themselves when it is a legitimate cause...especially when you proclaim your nation is founded on dharma.

That is the reason they are allowed to live here.. !! Which seems to be the middle path to me..supporting the Tibetan cause by giving them a base...

Let's get this straight - the Indian govt does NOT support the Tibetan cause. Individual Indians do. That the refugees are here is a different matter. That's becos in 1956 already the DL was warning Nehru of China's bad intentions, in fact he didn't want to go back to Lhasa even then, but Nehru practically forced him to with "don't worry, have chicken curry" (ok, not exactly) - the DL was young and impressionable (all of 21) and looked up to him, and Nehru was of course Nehru. Well, then came 10.3.59 and the rest is history. When the DL escaped to India, Nehru cud not very well have refused him shelter anymore, cud he? That's why the Tibetans are here, Nehru's guilt-complex. Let's not delude ourselves with any high-mindedness about providing them a base and thereby supporting their cause. The Indian govt wud just as well they all moved en-masse to Antarctica, so that NOTHING comes in the way off "Hindi-Chini bhai-bhai"!

(We can argue with him on the SMS words that creep into his otherwise excellent posts, though!)
(...and I did give up using those internet abbreviations I used to use!)

DL? Oh, Dalai Lama in full. But everybody calls him that - it's like HM, HRH, HMS, etc. Actually if I had been a disciple of his, I shud have been calling him HHDL. I'm sure u know that one? Quote:
