No Dillawala,

I think it was a case of Monks being asked to put on soldiers uniforms for a bit part in a movie

Then those monks will be useful for filling up empty seats too.

"he's biased so he must be wrong, right?"

Couldn't resist that

I don't think anyone can do everything; many choose to specialise.

By the way, can someone lift the curtain on my cultural vacuum () and tell me when these Olympic games are?* This summer, right? When?

I'm sure China will work very hard to get all this suppressed before they start. Might have been better for tibet if it had happened a month or three later.

*I wouldn't know a major sporting even if it was dressed in a boxing glove in contact with my face.

August.

The torch just arrived in London today. Already made the round of no. 10. Some protesters managed to get on the bus (or blocked the path), as per BBC.

Sky News is showing round-the-clock footage of the London protests right now, as the Olympic Torch passes through, good that it's getting so much coverage....

Shiver Me, if this isn't getting boring to ourselves (and sorry you missed the irony in the use of "bashing" there), it must be to other readers: I already said both our positions must be clear by now. What can I say, you are right, and I am wrong, or something.

Meanwhile, if we are to dismiss the deeds and words of all those who have "very little to say about the plight of Tibet in comparison to certain other conflicts," we'd better stop the world and start anew right now I guess. Something I often feel isn't such a bad proposition anyway.

Yeah you're right Mach, I've probably overstated my case here, and it's not entirely relevant anyway, I'm sure you understand that sometimes it's difficult not to have the last word ;

Anyway, back OT.....

.

Stopping, sure, hell of a good idea.

Starting anew would be, to use an appropriate legal term, double jeopardy.

Hey, you know me, and so yes, I certainly do... It's a fair debate really, SMT, I'm sorry for being a little on edge with it myself sometimes.

Hm yes. As in that outworn slogan that I must have quoted plenty a time before: Stop the world, I wanna get off (and yes, the sub-meanings of the latter phrase have often struck me, I doubt if they did the original graffiti artist though).

Olympic torch protesters in San Francisco climbed the Golden Gate Bridge today and unfurled Tibetan flags and banners saying One World, One Dream, Free Tibet. Check the link below and the pictures ... pretty cool! One of the people arrested is a friend of mine: Tashi Sharzur, a Tibetan singer and musician, better known by his nickname, Techung. (He wasn't one of the climbers, though.)

The current protests are probably the last chance of gaining any meaningful advances in Tibet's future. Chinese rhetoric does not sound good. People who are taking part in disrupting the olympics in any way they can are brave indeed.

No one has ever become free through being weak. Gandhi may not have had the guns but he had millions of people on his side.
