Question Pokhara to Varanasi - Please Help!

Hello all,

We are two girls traveling and would like to get to Varanasi from Pokhara. We have read mixed information and have no clear view on how to do this. We are looking for the best travel combinations as we know it will be a lengthy journey. Has anyone done this journey recently? We found a couple of posts but were dated 2005.

We are looking for any info in regards to Bus and Train combinations or all Bus or anything really.

Thank you!!!!

the best option would be fly to kathmandu and then take a bus to varanasi or you can take a bus to kathmandu and then to varanasi,
regards,
baba.

Most probably the best and cheaper way is: bus/shared jeep to Sunauli/Bhairawa at the border with India, then bus or shared jeep to Gorakhpur and then train to Varanasi.

Pokhara to Varanasi

Hi
Please avoid going to Varanasi from Pokhara by road, the best option is , go to Kathmandu either by bus or flight and take a direct 45 minute flight to Varanasi .

Have a good journey.
Thanks

There is a bus journey from Kathmandu to Varanasi with a halt and change of buses at the border. I had seen them operating during the peak season only but not everyday. The cost about two years ago was about Rs650 per person. The cheapest way would be to get to the Sonauli/Bhairawa Nepal-India Border and then go to Gorakhpur. Then take a train to Varanasi. Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Aadil.

It's a very tiring journey, but many hardy souls do it every day....
