Everest Flight
Buddha Air does "The Everest Experience" flying from Kathmandu Airport. Cost is approx. $150. and everyone has a window seat. Flights are not guaranteed, due to weather conditions. This link might be useful to you:

Although trekking isn't in your plans, Pokhara should be. This is the place where trekkers begin the Anapuna Circuit.
Pokhara is on a lake. All the tourist stuff is on 'Lakeside' and 'Damside' but I urge you to get to the other side of the lake. There, you'll find 'Anadu', means peacefull, and it is. I've spent several months each year there in a little guesthome run by a lovely couple. I loved it and them so much I built a website for them. You'll find that website at www.drool.com/anadu Tell them Ken sent you and you'll be treated like royalty. Well, even if you don't tell them you'll still be treated like Royalty. The views are worldclass, the people are lovely and the meals Shiva makes are terrific. Enjoy. |

If you go Nepal you can visit Pokhara and Sarangkot and Manokamna Temple, among other places. The road from Kathmandu to Manokamna temple is amazing with the high mountains on one side and the deep gorge on the other. After a while the river Trishuli runs along the road and the views are beautiful. you can take a car or a bus. The cable car ride to the temple is an experience by itself which one mustn't miss.
From Sarangkot you can view the Annapurna range and watch the sunrise which is like a holy experience. The climb is steep but it's worth it at the end. On the way back from Sarangkot you can visit the Bindhyabasini Temple dedicated to Goddess Bhagwati. Other than the religious side, you can get a beautiful view of the majestic Annapurna range clearly from here. Pokhara is one of the important tourist spots and you can find quiet places if you try. We had put up at a guest house run by the Chhetri sisters right in front of the Phewa lake and it was not crowded at all. It is a nice little place run by women. not too expensive either. In Kathmandu there is a lot to see too. The Durbar Square is quite a unique place. Patan, you should not miss. Thre is a nice museum in Patan and some Thanka art centres. Close to Kathmandu there is a botanical garden which is in a place called Godavari, as far as I can remember which is worth visting. You can just walk around in the city and you'll find there is such a lot to see. You can also go to Dhulikhel though it does not give a very good view of the mountains. at least i did not get from the area i went to. The helicopter ride is I think about Rs 5000 per head. Someone I know has recently booked one. I don't know the start and end points. You can find out from agents here. Nepal is a beautiful country with smiling polite people. You gte all kinds of food from different nations. It's not too expensive to move around and it is pretty much safe, during day time at least. Indian currency is accepted except for 500 and 1000 rupee notes. I hope you'll like the place. Enjoy yourself in the Himalayan Kingdom! |
