Hi, I'm off to India & around later this year but am not sure where I'll be & when. I'd love to visit Pakistan at some point but getting the visa seems to be a bugger for a Brit. Some of the posts on here though seem to talk about getting a visa as if it was just a formality;
I understand that you need a letter of recommendation from your government. If so, are there any requirements to fulfill in getting this? I also read that the visa must be used within 3 months of issue, is there any way of getting it along the way as it would be a while before I reach Pak. Any other problems in getting a visa??? Let me know if I can be clearer... Cheers! |

Try posing your question on the Pakistan Travel Forum. Go to http://www.ezboard.com and type pakistan travel forum into the search.
I'm hoping to go to Pakistan later this year too. |

generally, if you apply outside your country of residence yes you'll need a letter of introduction from your own embassy in the country of application.
if you apply IN the country of residence (britain?) you will need to use your visa within SIX months of issue - i'm talking abt London here... Pak visas are given in London as you wait.

The link just takes you to the ezboard homepage, Merc (is this the one you meant?) but searching 'pakistan' brings up another interesting forum I wasn't aware of: Desi Voice
Oh, just realised that volga's signature links to it It seems that the forum's just been sabotaged too...!Are the letters given upon request & what should it specify (purpose, dates, itinerary...)? Could I get one while at home & use it when applying in India? I had the impression that Pak visa's were tough to get |

introduction letter
if you apply in India, the letter should be from UK Embassy in India, so you cannot get it at home. i think the letter just says you are their citizen and wish to obtain visa to Pakistan for your trip.
Pak visa is as easy to get as Indian one. But you will only be given single entry unless you show that you go to Kashgar and back then you can get double entry visa. |

Nowadays, Pakistani landing visas (the kind you get at the airport) are for business purposes ONLY, and require an invitation or recommendation from the proper authorities.
Pakistan used to have landing visas for tourists, but those ended after 9/11
