My site about my overland Asian journey
Hello all
I am a Turkish backpacker & I have a site about the 6,5 month overland Asian journey that I made during September-March 2004. The adress is http://gezginrocker.com The journey started in my home country, Turkey. Then I went overland to Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand again and then took a flight back to Turkey. I have tried to gather some useful information about my journey at my site, like the costs, statistics, suggestions etc. Also you can find some multimedia like pictures and videos and also download some items like screensavers & wallpapers. I hope you will find it useful. |

Hello there,
Yep I a really had a bad time with touts, rickshaw wallahs, tour guides etc. But this is also because of me, I was traveling alone, I was physically sick & probably I overreacted most of the time. Turks aren't known for their patience. :-) But touts in India are really extremely persistent, especially in places like Agra, Jaipur, Varanasi. Because of the touts I really had bad experiences in those places. India is a great country but I couldn't enjoy it because of too much pressure from the touts. I really wanna come back again but definitely not alone this time. When you are alone you are a better target for touts and you can get angry more easily. And last week I was checking a book from Lonely Planet called something like 100 Greatest Cities in the World. And in every listed Indian city, touts were listed as minuses of the city. So it is really hard not to notice touts. Oh and I almost forgot, in Varanasi I bought a t-shirt. I wish I had bought it in the beginning of the trip. It says "No Boat, No Silk, No Hashish, No Change, No Problem!" :-) Last edited by keremcan : Dec 4th, 2006 at 04:04. |
