Motorcycles in Kathmandu

Hi, I'm new to this forum so I'm not really sure how to post questions.

I'm going to Kathmandu with my partner and we were wanting to hire a motorcycle, does anyone know of a good company?

There are no companies...in Thamel area you will see small shops who rent out the bikes..they will keep some documents like your passport or something and give you the bike...

cost can vary between NPR 250 - 5000.

The best way would be to ask your hotel guy to arrange for one..they would be more knowledgeable about the local stuff...

do you think it's worth bringing our own helmets over? or buying/borrowing ones over there. we're not going to need them the whole trip.

Everything's possible...

You can rent 350 or 500 Enfields in Katmandu and Pokhara.
The Himalayan Enfielders are in Katmandu and they are a pretty good outfit. Make your way to Jazz Upstairs in Lazimpat (near the British Embassy) and you can ask the barman for contact details. In Pokhara you can rent from Hearts and Tears Motorcycle Club(heartsandtears.com), which I think is the better option as the roads around there are fantastic. You could start in Pokhara and ride to Tanzen, then Chitwan and make your way to Katmandu via Daman (with views of Everest).

Forgot to mention, that Hearts and Tears are run by a Dutch woman (Moniek) and an English guy (Rick) and they can hire you decent European helments, leathers, gloves (not sure about boots), which saves you bringing your own gear.
