Maldives boat share - Sept

Hi!

I've hired a crewed 6 berth boat leaving Male 16th Sept, for a week, and am looking for fellow travellers share the costs.
Main focus will be on snorkeling.
Please send me a PM if you are interested.

Thanks,
t

Apparently everyone doesn't have PM capability on this site. Willing to share any details publicly?

Seems I can't PM you either (I can PM other users though)
I've created a website specifically for the trip, however my original post got deleted.
You can contact me at my yahoo email address, which will be trevorc2000

Both 'problems' are to do with the Indiamike strict policy on advertising, in many cases the policy can seem too strict, but ask any long term member and they will likely all agree with the policy.

Anything that looks like an add gets deleted, it doesn't matter how well intentioned the post may be, it gets deleted, the number of such posts that have been deleted easily runs into the 1000's, more likely somewhere between 5-10,000, you can imagine how awful the website would be if adds weren't deleted, and as an ex mod I can tell you that the mods can't decide if this or that 'add' should be allowed or not, they'd be making these decisions all day, the only system that works is a 'no add' system.

New members need to be a member for more than a certain number of days (is it 10?) and need to make 10 posts before they can send/receive PMs, once the 'no add' system started, travel agents just started sending adds via PMs, then there's the new members who decide to send a PM to every new female member, I hope you can see why the rules were changed.

Although I wont be joining you for this trip, I'd love to keep up to date on your plans to see how it works out, the Maldives have seriously priced themselves out of the market for all but the high end travelers, I recently found an acceptable room for only £150 (₹13,000) per night, so I looked into spending 5 night there, I first had to get the extra price for full board for 2 people, then had to add all the local taxes (lots of them), then had to add the costs for sea-plane transfer from Male, then had to add the cost of the extra flights from Trivandrum to Male, total for 5 nights went up to £2000 or £400 a night.

As the Lakshadweep Islands tourism policy seem to have committed suicide, I'm always on the lookout for something different, and your trip sounds great, I'll send you a PM.

Good luck.

Hi, that's a pity, though bear in mind that if we got another couple on board that would drive the price down even more.

Just an update for any one finding this, I've now found another couple willing to share the costs.
You can still see the details/pics (and maybe updates after the trip) at www.maldives-boat.com.
The cost finally came out at about $100 a day full board, so it's been worth the effort.
