Lahore Hotels! HELP
So im going to the Ind/pak test match next week in Lahore.
I have not been successful in finding decent/safe/affordable hotels (less than $50usd or 3000pak rupees a night) on the internet. I really do not want to spend the $$$ on putting up a five star. Anyone have any suggestions!?!?!?!? |

Not hotels but it is useful to know.
There are a few Sikh Gurdwara in Lahore. There is one near Lahore fort with accomodation. Gurdwara Dehra Sahib Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji has a serai. It is hard to miss it has a gold dome. It is on the road that leads to the fort entrance, the baradari (gardens) and the Badshahi Masjid. During the last Pakistan India series many people stayed at Gurdwara as hotel rooms were too high and hard to find. |

THanks for this tip. I also got the same advice from my friend's mother here in Kolkata, who spoke to her Sikh friend who said it wouldnt be a problem doing this either. However, I still think I would be more comfortable staying in a secure hotel.
How do I go about doing this? Do I just show up? |

Yes you just show up and ask for a room to stay. You are not allowed to be drunk etc or have tobacco or alcohol in your bags (I know its a bit hard to find alcohol in Pakistan
) . You can bring your own sleeping bag and pillow. On my last trip I took a blow up pillow, ground sheet and blanket. They usually give you a mattress. There is no need to make a donation, but if you want to you can go into the Gurdwara and there is a large donation box infront of Guru Ji (Sikh holy scriptures).Take a bandanna to cover your head and put this on before you enter. I am not sure of the community kitchen will be open as usually there are only a handful of Sikhs who look after this Gurdwara. Yes hotels are more comfortable but the only problem is finding a room within your budget. Also if the land crossing route is open for Indian passport holders there will be a major rush like in 2004. |

Thanks for all of this info. I think I am definitely going to do this as it will add another unique experience to my little cricket holiday. Now I guess it is a matter of determining which one is closest to Gaddafi Stadium!
On another note, do they also have showers/bathrooms? I am not expecting any sense of luxury (they are already very generous to open up their quarters to everyone) but am just curious about the setup... |

I am 100% sure that the Gurdwara I mentioned above is the only one that has such rooms in Lahore. |
