Kathmandu Shanti place to stay???
Anyone know of a good clean fairly central but peaceful Shanti place to stay with character in Centralish Kathmandu at the low to mid budget end. I'm looking for something smallish & secluded in it's own gardens with a rustic feel as opposed to some of the 100 room GH's???

If you really want 'shanti' then stay at the Hotel Vajra near Swayambhu - kindof inconveniently located and pricey for KTM(unless you are married to a local and can get Nepali rate
) but very quiet, beautiful gardens, very romantic(we spent our wedding night here) - if I was stuck at my hotel thanks to a bandha or curfew I would rather be here then in Thamel.

Thanks, I'd already bookmarked the Vajra, looks verreeee nice, but like you say pricey! I was considering Ganesh Himal, they claim it's verreee quiet???
I'm thinking of staying in KTM on arrival then Boudnath on return from Tibet. KK |
