| Kandy Perahera Aug 2005 I tried to post this last week but seems it did not make the board! Arrive Sri Lanka Aug 18 and plan to hi-tail it up to Kandy for the last night of the Perahera and the day parade Aug 20. We don't really want to book accom priced at double & triple the normal rates. Should we just shut-up & pay up or does anyone have an email or phone number for a cheap, clean place to stay? Thanks!  |

| why don't you just check a guidebook, such as lonely planet, or ask at the southasian branch of the lonely planet thorntree? best of luck. i may go to sri lanka for the first time this october. |

| Already done it! zenkris-Of course I've already done what you suggested, weeks ago!! That's how I know prices have risen so much! I really hoped for input from Sri Lankan members or anyone who'd been to last year's Perahera. Looks like we'll have to pay around 3500 rupees for a bed for the two of us. Prices double or triple at festival time. Bugger! Hope you get over there, in October. The country looks amazing.  |
