HI,
there is a direct bus service from Kolkata (Karunamoyee Bus Stand, Salt Lake) tickets are also avilable here. I do not know the fare. It takes whole day, about 12 hrs. the bus departs at approx. 6 in the morning. ticket booking in advance. obtain visa and relevent things for going there. And do not try to SNEAK IN. although locals do that (mainly sumugglers) through benapole border, please do not try it as if you get caught, you will land into a much better problem ruining your carrer and everything. "rotting in a foreign jail is worse than dying in one's own country." ....there is also flights available. no train service yet but a planning has been undertaken to connet whole SOuth Asia through railway.......thats future. anyway, best of luck for exam Bhaswaran |

Bangladesh GRE test
Bangladesh is a sovereign country and has its own set of legalities and regulations. It is not a state of India although quite a few Indians like to think that way. People in Bangladesh don't take well to that kind of attitude...respect the sovereignty and the pride of its people and you will be treated well.
I wouldn't advise 'sneaking in' -- consequences could be dire and you would be in jail in an unknown place. Get a visa -- don't let you lazy bone get the best of you. By the way -- be considerate and please use spellcheck -- it reduces the eye-strain on others. |

A tourist visa to Bangladesh is not difficult to get- There are no interviews -- so why sneak in ? You can apply at the Bangladesh consulate in Kolkata

... Besides I have never heard other than that there are direct buses Kolkata-Dhaka so for someone looking to take some exam I'd suggest asking around a little bit, shouldn't be hard to find. It's not far so won't be very costly either I imagine.

Yes, you have to take visa. It is easy & no fee required for Indians.
The direct bus between Kolkata-Dhaka :Everyday there are several buses (BRTC, Shohag, Green Line & Shamoly). The fare is USD 8-10 (One way). BTW, being a IM friend, Please contact me before coming Bangladesh. We will meet in Dhaka & take dinnr at my apartment. mahmud |
