My hub and I usually stay at Boudhanath Guest House right across from Boudha Gate which is a bit more convenient.

| Senior Member | When I last checked(2 years ago, sorry) it was a little under 200 Rs per night - I don't recall if this was with or without bath. So happy - will be with my favorite person in the world in my favorite place in the world in 12 days!!! ![]() |

Personally i would suggest Lotus Guest House.Nice people and peaceful but now i would like a room with a TV set in it, since at nights-sometimes i can not easily sleep and i'd prefer to watch a bit the news or something on the TV apart from reading a book .Any suggestions???

| I would not suggest you to go to Nepal at this moment just because of the kind of unrest blooming there every other day. |

What's the score changing money is there a moneychanger desk in the airport? What are the rates like compared to in KTM itself? KK | |

| Senior Member | Sorry I have been so busy getting ready(not only for my trip but for my husband's arrival) that haven't been on IM lately. Yes, there is a moneychanger at KTM airport. Rates are a little higher than Thamel but not exhorbitantly so - I usually only change $100 or so so I'll have Rs in my pocket for taxi, etc. I arrive the morning of the 22nd - this Friday - woohooo!!!! I haven't seen my husband in 10.5 months and he is coming back with me this time so even Maobadi mischief can't spoil my excitement... ![]() Note re changing money - upon leaving 2 years ago I had trouble changing NRs into $$ at the airport even though you are not supposed to bring NRs out of the country. The moneychanger would only change my money if I had an exchange receipt from Nabil Bank only... Since I did not have a receipt from Nabil Bank I had to exchange $$ at a terrible rate at the duty-free, but I was desperate, staying in Bangkok for a week and needed that $$ to live on... Good idea to change some $$ at Nabil Bank and keep the receipt until you leave, unless maybe they don't follow that policy any more. |
