Iran visa question

Hello all, I'm in the early stages of planning an overland trip to India and have read a load of threads on different forums about how to get an Iranian visa. I don't really wanna go through an agency and spend more money so my question is this..have any BRITISH passports holders downloaded the application form and sent it off with the fee etc directly to the embassy in London and been successful? Cheers

I'm an American (married to iranian) and have been there. I will tell you as British person, you may have a very hard time to get a visa to Iran. They want us to go either in a group or have a government tour guide. The other option is to try to get a "transit visa." But those are difficult to get and usually give a few days in the country.

I know you don't want to spend the extra money...But an agency is your representative to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tehran (the office that will issue the visa).

Hi!

Sorry I can't actually answer your question, but given the current state of British/Iranian relations, I really think maybe an agency is the best way to go for you.

www.iranianvisa.com will only charge you $30, and they're quite efficient, I used them 3 years ago without any problems.

Going directly to the embassy will mean you cant be exactly sure about when or if you'll receive your visa, although there are no guarentees with an agency either.

Anyway, good luck, and have a look at the thread in my signature for more info on the overland trip. I might be heading back to Iran this summer as well, I would say 'lets meet up for a beer', but I'm sure you know all about Iranian law at this stage....
