Indo-Pak crossing and Visa

I'm British citizen been in India for last year and looking to get out overland before visa runs out early June. Original route thru Nepal looks dicey now so thinking of Pakistan. Anyone know if possible to get Pak visa here in India and head for the border (without having any onward flights). I had thought to head from Pak to China overland, getting China Visa in Pak.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

James

It will take about a week in Delhi, and you'll need a letter of recommendation from the British Embassy, so it's gonna cost a bit too. Other than that, there shouldn't be any problems, I met loads of Brits in Pakistan who had come from India, having got their visa in Delhi.

Chinese visa in Islamabad should be no trouble either, but I don't know much about it.

Pakistan is a great country, take time on your way to China - have a look at my gallery for some pictures of Northern Pakistan.

Hi Jamie, just read your profile - if you're heading home via Silk Road (i.e. the 'Stans'), just remember you can't get a visa for Kyrygzstan in Pakistan, and the nearest place in China to get one is Beijing, a big detour. Better get this in Delhi as well.

Thanks for the tips. What's the form with recommendation letter from Brit emb? Just turn up and ask for one? Or have to do some legwork/paperwork beforehand?

Cheers

You gotta turn up and get one - they'll charge you for it though, up to £50 I heard.
